In May and June 2026, New Life Home Trust UK trustees Bev and Charlie returned to Kenya to visit our homes in Nairobi, Nakuru and Kisumu. Joined by fellow trustee Dr Ruth Margetts for part of their journey, they witnessed first-hand the care, compassion and dedication that make New Life such a special place.
For the trustees, the visit was an opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, see the progress being made across the homes and offer practical support to the teams caring for vulnerable babies, children and young people.
Reflecting on their experience, they shared:
“Once again, it was a wonderful privilege to be able to visit New Life Home Trust, and we want to thank everyone who made our time such a positive experience.”

Nakuru: Small Steps, Big Achievements
Next, the trustees travelled to Nakuru, where they were encouraged by the progress young people were making in developing their confidence, independence and everyday life skills.
From helping with cooking and household tasks to becoming more involved in daily routines, these achievements demonstrated the importance of providing opportunities for young people to learn and grow.
The visit also highlighted the positive impact of supportive school environments, where friendships, inclusion and improved accessibility are helping young people participate more fully in everyday life.
Alongside these encouraging moments, Bev and Charlie spent time with caregivers, sharing practical guidance on specialist equipment and supporting children and young people with disabilities.
They were particularly touched by the warm relationships between staff and those in their care, including moments of shared faith and togetherness.
“We heard them worshipping together though our apartment wall as they cooked their meals.”
These simple, everyday moments reflected the nurturing and supportive environment that New Life strives to provide.

Kisumu: Celebrating 25 Years of Love and Care
The final and longest part of the visit was spent in Kisumu, a home particularly close to the trustees’ hearts.
Their stay coincided with the home’s 25th anniversary celebrations, providing a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the lives touched by New Life over the years.
Many staff members have dedicated more than 15 years to the home, and the anniversary Gala dinner was a special occasion to recognise their remarkable commitment.
The trustees also spent time with the Amani team, which supports children and young adults with complex physical and learning disabilities.
They were encouraged by the work of the therapy and care teams, who continue to help young people develop practical skills, build confidence and participate in everyday activities according to their abilities.
Bev and Dr Ruth also delivered training sessions, sharing knowledge on communication techniques and supporting children with additional needs.
One particularly moving moment came when the team welcomed a new baby into Pendo. The arrival brought everyone together in celebration, with one young person offering a heartfelt prayer that the baby would find a loving mummy and daddy.
It was a beautiful reminder of New Life’s mission: providing vulnerable babies with safety, love and care, while working towards the hope of a permanent family.

The Difference Supporters Make
Throughout their visit, the trustees saw how the generosity of supporters continues to make a real difference.
Thanks to donations raised in their hometown of Teignmouth, they were able to purchase essential supplies, including nappies and baby formula, as well as support important repairs to the Amani unit.
The visit also highlighted ongoing needs, from specialist equipment and accessible transport to toys and playground facilities that encourage development and play.
Every donation, act of kindness and offer of practical support helps New Life continue providing a safe, nurturing environment for children who need it most.
Looking Ahead With Hope
As their time in Kenya came to an end, the trustees reflected on the warmth of their welcome, the dedication of the staff and the progress being made across the homes.
Their visit was a reminder that behind every achievement, however small, are people working tirelessly to give vulnerable children the care, opportunities and love they deserve.
In their closing message, the trustees shared:
“We continue to hold you all in our prayers, especially the Leadership team. May God grant you His wisdom for every child who He sends into The New Life family.”
